At his memorial service in Chicago a couple of weeks ago I told one of his favorite jokes. Consisting of two limericks, it so amused Ted Cohen, a compatriot of Kenneth&#8217;s at the University of Chicago, that he included it in his book: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.press.uchicago.edu\/ucp\/books\/book\/chicago\/J\/bo3613669.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jokes, Philosophical Thoughts on Joking Matters<\/a>. Before I spoke my stepmum pointed out a typo in each of the limericks as published. Here for the first time in digital print is my dad\u2019s original version:<\/p>\n<h6>Skinner &amp; Tupper<\/h6>\n<p>One day a Church of England reverend is visited in his rectory by one of his parishioners. \u201cReverend,\u201d says the man, \u201crecently I heard a very amusing story, I\u2019d like to tell you, but it\u2019s just a bit off colour.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cThat\u2019s no problem,\u201d says the cleric, \u201cFor the sake of a good story I don\u2019t mind a bit of ribaldry.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cGood,\u201d says the parishioner, \u201cNow I must be careful, because I have some trouble remembering it exactly. I think this it:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:20px;\">There once was a young man named Skinner<br \/>\nWho had a young lady to dinner<br \/>\nThey sat down to dine,<br \/>\nAt a quarter til nine,<br \/>\nAnd by quarter to ten it was in her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat was in her?\u201d asked the churchman, \u201cThe dinner?\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cNo, Reverend, it was Skinner. Skinner was in her.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cOh, my, yes,\u201c says the reverend, \u201cVery amusing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A few weeks later the reverend is visited by his bishop, to whom, the reverend says, \u201cBishop, one of my flock told me a terribly amusing story that I\u2019d be delighted to tell you if you don\u2019t mind it\u2019s being just a bit lewd.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cOh, no,\u201d says the bishop, \u201cIt will do nicely if it is amusing.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cGood,\u201d says the reverend, \u201cbut I must be careful and go slowly, for I sometimes have trouble remembering. I think this is it:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:20px;\">There once was a young man named Tupper<br \/>\nWho had a young lady to supper<br \/>\nFirst they had tea<br \/>\nAt a quarter till three<br \/>\nAnd by quarter to four it was up her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUp her?\u201d asked the bishop. \u201cWhat was up her?
