The Glass Window was a natural land bridge joining two parts of Eleuthera. Winslow Homer painted it back in the 1880s when it was still intact. These days the rocks have tumbled under the weight of storms and been replaced by a man made bridge, itself regularly battered by the sea. Standing in the middle gives you a great sense of indigo fury on the Atlantic side and jade calm on the other. Well worth the six mile walk from our anchorage.




You tempted me to look up the artwork … it certainly would have been worth the walk!
