Carol’s last visit to Bryce Canyon was 30 (plus) years ago. This was my first. Bryce is one of those scenic gems that makes photography easy. Like Venice, it’s hard to take a bad photo here.
Everything you see was shaped by wind and water. Every corner you turn brings a different perspective and something new to marvel at.
Our route took us down the Navajo trail to join the Peekaboo trail in the Amphitheater. Everyone we met greeted us cheerily. I felt compelled to warn the chap in a Cubs shirt that there was a White Sox fan just ahead of him. He laughed.
After a solid hour of walking, a few clouds rolled in and clap of thunder grabbed everyone’s attention. Thirty minutes later we saw heavy rain in the distance, while only a couple of drops fell locally. Nevertheless, we were grateful for the shade.
We had set a goal of five miles and 1,600 feet of climbing, but added another three miles on for good measure. Happily the Rule of 9s worked in our favour and we avoided most of the crowds.
Here are more than a few photos of our adventure.
