Position: 24°33’07″N 76°47’17″W

We take Nell, our trusty dinghy, for a trip across Shroud Cay on a rising tide. We ran out of depth here and there and rowed for a bit, but only a bit. The cay is a magical place. If you can find an anchorage near the mouth of the river, you’ll have easy access to the interior. The water is as clear as crystal and the mangrove roots hang deep along the shore. At the far end near the ocean the waves crash and roar. That’s when we turned around and motored back into the sunset.

The question remains, which is the better form for rowing? Forwards or backwards? You decide – please leave your comments below.
