Sometimes the Brit in me can’t stand it and I get all Basil Fawlty about life. Here’s the New York Times playing Sybil (in Basil’s mind). Imagine, if you will, the NYT on Mastermind, special subject: the bleedin’ obvious.
That said, brain damage is not a subject to be taken lightly. The NFL should be worried. America’s most watched sport is on the wane, and don’t blame politics! Thanks to the risk of head injuries the next generation of mums will focus on football, sorry, soccer. While women’s football in the USofA rocks, the men, frankly, kind of stink. But the hand wringing about why American men do so poorly in international football, sorry, soccer, has already started. See: USA Today – US Men’s Soccer
Brain injuries are serious which is why I do my best to avoid them. I swam in high school, wear a helmet when I bike and motorcycle and have given up skiing (well, that was my knee, but my loved ones all wear helmets on the slopes!).
Even ven woodpeckers are at risk! See this article from the Washington Post: Woodpeckers and Brain Damage
